Multi-Tasking

I'm listening to an earnings conference call as I jot down some thoughts from the past few days. I'm trying to limit my attempts at multi-tasking, since I now think of them as counter-productive, but I think this is a reasonable exception. Focus.

So I have had another choppy week, accomplishing a few matters but mostly spinning my wheels. I have begun to make some headway, but I just can't seem to get a solid start to this year.

- Two-cent bill error: I spelled out the proper amount on my auto-insurance bill, but wrote in the amount as just $160, rather than $160.02, and it was cashed at the lesser amount. I'll be curious to see how this affects me, if at all.

- BofA continues to be a thorn in my side. I still haven't received a call about my mortgage preapproval or my complaint that I hadn't heard about my mortgage preapproval. I got hassled the other day when cashing a 27-cent check but barely received a glance when cashing a five-figure check. To express my dissatisfaction, I plan to close out my safety-deposit box. If the bad service persists, I will take the account elsewhere.

- The 27-cent check was the result of a $500 stock purchase of a local bank, where I was able to get in on the IPO. The 27 cents represents the interest that accrued from the time I mailed in my check and the commencement of the stock's trade.

- The five-figure check was a generous gift from the in-laws. I'm shifting it over to ING, where I'll enjoy the 4.75% special winter-savings rate for a few months.
